I think the @Anywhere platform is one of those obvious features that makes Twitter a little bit easier to use. I feel like Facebook adds these things much more often. When people ask Facebook for a feature they usually get it - if it is generally beneficial to everyone.

Twitter doesn't seem to have anywhere near the resources - people ask for very basic new features all the time and the site hasn't changed much over the years. Yes, we can now make lists, use Twitter Connect, click to RT, and see trending topics by region - but the fact that I have to use a third party site to track, organize and post information doesn't seem very efficient to me.

When will Twitter get its own URL shortener or better yet text links, an auto-complete or drop down option for @usernames, a comment threading option, highlight or call out influencers or people you talk to the most? Maybe never - and that won't help their longevity.
