Foursquare to unveil version 3.0 at SXSW

Foursquare has announced their plans for SXSW on their website, including the release of foursquare version 3.0 for iPhone and Android. They’ve also posted their plans for parties, concerts, panels, and badges. There will be 18 new badges for SXSW 2011, but as of right now, they don’t indicate how to unlock. And of course, you’ll be able to play a game of foursquare and win some foursquare swag. Here’s a video of me dominating at last year’s SXSW.

This will be my second trip to SXSW in Austin, TX, and I’m looking forward to see what big announcements are made at this year’s event. I predict check-in platforms (like foursquare) will dominant the chatter once again. I’m also predicting that one or many of the location-based platforms are going to take us to the next level of check-ins, whatever that might be.

Are you going to SXSW? If so, what are you looking forward to the most?

I will most definitely be playing some playground-style foursquare!

I think my must attend panels are “Viral Marketing with The Oatmeal,” “Marketing Lessons From the Grateful Dead,” and “An Interview With Mythbuster Jamie Savage.” Also, the Keynote from the founder of TOMS Shoes will be a good one. :)
