In a recent Ad Age article, chatter at SXSW was examined to see which brand was mentioned the most. To my surprise, the most mentioned brand wasn’t one of the 10 official sponsors, but it was the social media news site Mashable.
The top 10 most-mentioned brands at SXSW were Mashable, Twitter, Google, foursquare, Facebook, CNN, GroupMe, Tumblr, Microsoft and Instagram (see chart below). It definitely demonstrates that you don’t have to be an official sponsor to get noticed and mentioned at SXSW.
