When will Facebook hit 1 billion users?

According to JESS3‘s new Geosocial Universe infographic, Facebook is quickly approaching 700 million users – which got me thinking – when will Facebook hit 1 billion users? At this point there is no “if” they will reach a billion users, but when. Facebook reached 600 million users earlier this year in January, and will probably hit the 700 million mark at the end of June. According to research compiled by Dan Zarrella, 33% of Facebook posts come from mobile devices. What was so surprising about this research was that majority of these updates came through m.facebook.com, and not through smartphone devices like the iPhone, Android, etc. I imagine that mobile Facebook usage will continue to climb in the future. Would you look for love using Facebook ads?

For one guy, the answer is yes. That one guy is Matt Simpson. He’s a web-savvy 30-something, and he’s using the Facebook self-service ad platform to find love. At first, it sounds a little bit weird, but when you think about it, it’s probably a cheaper alternative than going out to bars every night or setting aside money each month for dating websites.
