Zynga adding rewards program
Zynga, the creator of FarmVille and Mafia Wars, is rolling out a rewards program, called RewardVille. RewardVille will work like this: Each time you play a participating Zynga game, you’ll earn Zynga Points (zPoints) and increase your Zynga Level (zLevel). At every zLevel, you’ll earn Zynga Coins (zCoins) to use on free, exclusive in-game items in RewardVille. The rewards program is in beta and will roll-out to a small group of users. Playdom, in collaboration with ESPN, recently launched a sports-themed social game on Facebook called ESPNU College Town. How do you play the game? You’re tasked with creating your own virtual college campus (you can even tie your virtual university to your actual alma mater). It’s very similar to SimCity, but instead of building a city you’re building a college campus. You can choose what photos are included in your album and even edit captions for the photos. Below is my photo album that highlights my transformation into a...

For example, New York City’s Office of Emergency Management recently launched the “My Meeting Place” app that offers a list of meeting places that families and friends can use to reunite in case of an emergency. The app allows you to enter your address to find the 9 meeting places closest to you. The places display in a large, interactive Google Map where you can get directions, print, or email that location to your family members. You can also filter the map by...

Altoids, yes the breath mints, has launched a genius application that allows you to create a list of a few of your Facebook friends (those who matter the most) and tune out everyone else. This app has perfect timing as it seems everyone is complaining about how their news feed is filled with unwanted updates (now including Places check-ins) from friends. The Tune Out app is available for iPhones, iPads, and a desktop app can also be downloaded from the Altoids Facebook Page on the Tune Out tab. The app is very easy to setup. Once you download the app, you will be prompted to login to...
