Gmail’s getting a new look
According to the latest blog post from the Gmail Blog, your Gmail inbox will be getting a makeover. The purpose of these changes is to help strip out unnecessary clutter and give your inbox a more cleaner, modern look. The changes to Gmail will be gradually released over the next few months. However, you can test drive the new look by choosing one of two new themes – “Preview” and “Preview (Dense)” are now available in the Themes tab in Gmail Settings. See example below. I downloaded an interesting browser plugin for Chrome, called Rapportive, that automatically adds a sidebar within Gmail messages. This sidebar displays information about the person who’s sending you emails including Facebook updates, LinkedIn info, tweets, etc. The plugin automatically cross-checks for publicly available social network presences, pictures and more on the Web, all of which get displayed while you’re reading or crafting an email.
